Are you a get on me or a get off me kinda girl during pregnancy?
Is that too bold of a question?
Ahh… what’s the big deal? Let’s talk about it! We all have the same parts and the same hormones, right? So let’s normalize this whole thing by talking about it!
Many women find themselves insanely horny during pregnancy and with good reason and they ask themselves the question: Does Pregnancy Make You Horny?
Increased levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone are to blame (or thank!). These raging hormones are stimulating and increasing the amount of blood flow to the pelvic region and exaggerating the amount of your vaginal lubrication. So… of course you’re horny!
Now that doesn’t mean you’re horny every day, all day. But it doesn’t mean you’re not either. For some women, it changes with each trimester of pregnancy. For others it changes from week to week and for some… day to day or even hour to hour.
But what about our partners? Think about how confusing this must be to them. How the hell are they supposed to keep up with this stuff?!?! Especially, if you are a woman who typically has a low libido.
You get knocked up and now you want to swing from the chandelier and give blow jobs in the car! They can’t figure out if this is good or bad AND they are totally stumped as to why you want to one day and the next day, you’re the “ice queen”.
Does pregnancy make you horny?
Once again… communication is key. Open a dialogue. Have a discussion about the question does pregnancy make you horny because of the hormones. Help them understand. Learn yourself. Learn why this is happening to you. Force away any shame! Embrace your sexuality. Don’t judge yourself. Enjoy being a woman AND a mother.
Lot’s of partners are freaked out about sticking anything in to your vagina while there is a baby just on the other side of the gate. Your baby is well protected and intercourse will not harm your baby during normal pregnancy. Allow your partner to voice their concerns but be sure to remind him/her that your orgasms during pregnancy have the ability to be earth shattering! That could be quite a turn on!
Maybe penetration is beyond their comfort limits during pregnancy. They are entitled to their feelings and perceptions. Not to worry, there are ways around this. You know the old saying… if ya ain’t got it in the hips… ya better have it in the lips!
This is another example of how “team work makes the dream work”! Work together, communicate and don’t judge each other!
(Discontinue vaginal penetration at the advise of your doctor or midwife OR if you amniotic sac is ruptured.)
