umpkin pies and crisp sweater weather.
Even with fall nearby, don’t forget about these last precious weeks of summer sunshine.
Spend some time as a family or plan a few adventures at home while you still have long days and warm nights.
Plan a movie night outside.
Sometimes an adventure can be found right in your own backyard. Plan a camping trip in your backyard complete with tents, sleeping bags and smore’s! Your kids will feel like they’re exploring uncharted territory only a few feet from the back porch. A projector can turn your laptop and a white sheet into an outdoor movie theatre. A movie night under the stars might be an awesome last hoorah before school starts.
It wouldn’t be summertime without a day at the beach. Pack a picnic lunch, sand toys and some fluffy towels and head out to the nearest beach. You’ll get a chance to soak in some rays while the kids splash around in the water. Don’t forget to stay safe and protect your skin from harmful UV rays by reapplying sunscreen every couple of hours. Be sure you have all the beach essentials for a fun day with your little ones!
Take this opportunity to invite some friends and family over for a barbecue. Once school starts, it can be difficult to get everyone together to have fun and relax. Make your own yard games to play for hours of entertainment. Put your kids in charge of decorating for the party and have a blast with a theme! End the summer right with a luau party complete with grass skirts and bright Hawaiian colors or even a pirate party! The possibilities are endless, so start a new end of the summer party tradition at your house.
August is notorious for being hot and muggy, so a trip to an aquarium might be the perfect way to beat the heat. You can explore all the creatures of the sea with your kids while taking advantage of an air conditioned atmosphere. They will be absolutely amazed to see sharks, rainbow fish and even seals! Watch out though, they might get hooked but you will be cool and comfortable. The aquarium is the perfect activity to spend some time together before the summer officially comes to an end.
However you spend the last few weeks of summer, make sure it makes for unforgettable and nostalgic memories.
School will be here before we know it, so now is the time to have some fun!
