“To say Debbie from Northeast Doulas is a superhero would be the understatement of the century. Debbie worked with us throughout our pregnancy to make sure we had a comprehensive birth plan we were comfortable with and throughout Lauren’s 27 hours of unmedicated labor (after a high risk pregnancy with a blood disorder), that we knew all of our options and helped us communicate our needs. She worked with our medical team to make sure Lauren’s birth was calm and that Lauren, Jake and baby were–and felt– safe. The relief Debbie provided physically with Lauren’s contractions, and emotionally, coaching her on, was incredible. We don’t know how we would have done it without her. When our baby was being born, Debbie took photos and a video of the birth that we will treasure forever. She stayed with us after our the birth to make sure we felt secure and followed up with us a few weeks postpartum to check in, see how we were doing and to answer any questions we had. She not only supported Lauren throughout the labor, she also was an indispensable support for Jake, who would not have been able to handle it on his own without her. Debbie provided help that he would have never known in the moments of having your first child and seeing your wife in the throes of labor. In such a vulnerable state for both partners, you need someone you can trust and the doulas at Northeast Doulas are it. Debbie went above and beyond to support us,–even driving all the way up to our hospital more than an hour away– Debbie and the doulas at Northeast Doulas are nothing less than birth godmothers.
