Packing your hospital bag is an exciting milestone. Here's a practical checklist local families can use, whether you're delivering in Westchester or across the line in Greenwich.
For you
ID and insurance card, your birth-plan notes, a robe and comfortable going-home outfit, toiletries, phone charger, lip balm, hair ties, and slippers with grip.
For labor comfort
A comfortable pillow from home, a warm layer, and any comfort items your birth doula suggested. Your doula brings a toolkit of comfort techniques, so you don't need much gear.
For baby
A going-home outfit, a swaddle or blanket, and an installed car seat (staff will check it's in).
For your partner
Snacks, a change of clothes, and a charger โ long labors are hungry work.
A doula helps you feel ready for the whole experience, not just the packing. See our FAQ, explore postpartum support for after you're home, or contact us.
