With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, couples alike are scrambling around trying to find the perfect gift, or plan the perfect gesture, to show their appreciation for their significant other. This isn’t another blog about what to plan, where to go out for dinner or what to buy the love of your life. This blog is about you.

Yeah, YOU!

Parenthood breeds chaos (literally!)

When was the last time you did something for you?

As experts in navigating the ups and downs of parenthood, from prenatal to postpartum, we’re here to give you a nudge towards a bit of self care.
We even came up with a list of 5 realistic ways you can practice self care and be your own damn Valentine!

Go out for coffee with yourself.

Yep, that’s #1 on the list! Take a trip to your favorite local coffee shop for whatever your little heart desires. A latté, cappuccino, Americano… the list goes on.

If you order a latté it is likely you’ll get one of those pretty pictures on top made out of the espresso and foam.

Enjoy it. Add as much sugar as you want, nobody is looking, we promise.

Number 2, buy yourself flowers.

Even if that means grabbing a bouquet at shoprite and arranging it in a vase or mason jar when you get home. It’s nice to show yourself some love and appreciation. Plus, arranging the flowers yourself will allow you to express some cooped up creativity. Express yourself, baby!

Number 3, sip life’s sweet moments, and then write them down.

Grab yourself a good notebook and pen and sip life’s sweet moments! This can be funny things your toddler says, a sweet text your partner sent, or a quote from the radio that really struck a chord with you. We aren’t talking about a full diary entry, just something to keep your memories safe and treasured for you to return to whenever you need it.

Number 4, pamper yourself.

Okay, so this is a given. Self care, manicure, facial, blah, blah, blah. But as we mentioned before, this list is a realistic one, so we are going to forget about all of that stuff. Pampering yourself can mean soaking in a hot bath after a long day, or even doing an at home facial complete with your favorite cleanser, exfoliator and mask! Why not throw a coat of polish on those tootsies of yours while you wait for the mask to dry?!

Number 5, make YOURSELF BREAKFAST.

Seriously. This FEELS SO GOOD. When was the last time you made yourself a fabulous breakfast. We mean a PINTERST WORTHY breakfast? A tall tower of fluffy pancakes, with delicatley placed berries, a pat of butter and a drizzle of maple syrup. Mouth watering much? Enjoy your creation in peace and solidarity. Thank us later.

Remember to treat yourself this Valentine’s Day. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.
