Yevgeniya (Jane) Shurp, M.D. is a Board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Dr. Shurp graduated from medical school and completed her Pediatric residency training in her native country of Uzbekistan (former USSR).  After moving to the United States, she completed a second Pediatric residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, a teaching hospital of Columbia University, and joined Putnam Valley Pediatrics in 1997. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College, a school physician for Putnam Valley School District, Vice President of the Putnam County Medical Society, and appears as a guest speaker on Cablevision’s weekly Health Watch Program.  Her special interests are Complementary or Alternative Medicine (CAM) which includes holistic/integrative pediatrics, homeopathy, herbology, Reiki, and Whole Nutrition. Fluent in Russian, Dr. Shurp also provides medical assistance and evaluation for foreign adoption.

Dr. Zurhellen spent his undergraduate years at Columbia, then went on to medical school at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia, which is now part of Drexel University.  He did his pediatric internship and residency at Albert Einstein Hospital / Bronx Municipal Hospital (Jacobi) in the Bronx.  After completing his training, he moved to Putnam Valley and established Putnam Valley Pediatrics in 1975. He is board-certified in pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  He is on the staff of Einstein and Montefiore Hospitals, the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, and Hudson Valley Hospital Center.  In addition to general pediatrics, he has a subspecialty in developmental, behavioral, and educational pediatrics.  He was honored with the Byron Oberst Award for excellence in teaching by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and served on its National Committee for Quality Improvement, Council on Clinical Information Technology, Section on Administration and Practice Management, and the Practice Management Online Editorial Board. He currently also serves as the American Academy of Pediatrics representative to the PEHRC (Physicians' Electronic Health Record Coalition -- www.PEHRC.org), and recently completed three years as the President of the Putnam County Medical Society. He has been a school physician for the Putnam Valley Central School District since 1975.
